Sharon thinks of PR as "planned relationships" that have the power to help organizations survive and prosper. She advocates for a strategic approach to communication because she knows that for a communication program ito reap results, it has to improve an organization's relationships -- with their employees, customers, shareholders, regulators, government or media among others. Sharon also has the unique ability to view issues from the perspective of both the CEO and the single-issue interest group at the same time.
The counsel she provides her clients reflects these perspectives.
Sharon's career as a professional communicator began in Toronto as a broadcast journalist. After going "to the other side", she worked in marketing, PR and advertising agencies in Ontario and Halifax before founding Communication Solutions in Kamloops, British Columbia. For more than 20 years, Sharon has received accolades for her marketing communications strategies within the public and private sector -- especially in health care communication, crisis management, corporate positioning and issues management.
When Sharon is not shuttling her three children between soccer fields, she is giving back to her community and her profession. She has served as a Director of the Rotary Club of Downtown Kamloops and as the Canadian representative on the Public Relations Society of America's Counsellors Academy. These are but two reasons Sharon has been deemed a "Fellow" of the Canadian Public Relations Society. Sharon holds the APR Accreditation from the Canadian Public Relations Society and a degree in Radio and Television Arts from Ryerson University.
